NHS Girls Basketball Team welcomes Local Italian Team PORTICI PEGASO Grazie Mille!
11th of December 2009, Naples High School welcomed local Italian team to a friendly game of basketball. Portici Pegaso a serie B team arrived at Naples High School with the excitement to play basketball and experience a little American culture. For many of the Portici players it was their first time visiting the US Navy base and playing against American players. It was an awesome experience for the school, athletes and the Naples Navy base community. The game was organized by David Lee, an avid volunteer coach for the Naples community and Ermanno Giamberini, Team Public Relations Officer. Both teams displayed outstanding sportsmanship and gratitude by exchanging gifts. Portici Pegaso presented the girls teams with personalized handmade mugs with the Pegaso logo. The Booster Club presented Portici team with 20 membership bags and T-shirts. The game was extremely entertaining with Portici taking the victory by displaying an array of exciting passes and shooting skills. NHS girls’ team played a hard game and enjoyed the opportunity. Overall, it was an evening of outstanding basketball, making new friends and culture exchange. The Naples HS community was extremely impressed with the play of Portici Pegaso players and hospitality. For many, it was there first time watching a local team play. This will be the start of a new relationship with many more games to follow!
